News, Notes & Photos Tuesday’s Angels and Children's Diagnostic and Treatment Center Share Commitment to HIV/ AIDS Children .........
The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) recognized Tuesday’s Angels for their long-standing commitment to children living with HIV. Tuesday’s Angels provides much needed support throughout the year to CDTC’s patients and their families living with HIV/AIDS by assisting with a variety of expenses such as utility bills, transportation, rent and mortgage assistance, funerals, eyes glasses and other basic needs. “We are immensely grateful to Tuesday’s Angels for their steadfast support of our Comprehensive Family AIDS Program. With our community being pulled in many directions to support so many worthy causes, it is reassuring to know that Tuesday’s Angels has made our Kids with HIV/AIDS to Camp drive so dear to their hearts,” said Susan Widmayer, Ph.D., executive director, CDTC. Support from Tuesday’s Angels to CDTC has totaled $120,000 since 2002. Each summer for the last six years, Tuesday’s Angels has supported the CDTC’s Kids to Camp program with a $20,000 gift. These funds assist in sending 60 children living with HIV/AIDS to Camp Hope in Houston, Texas. This special camp provides the children an opportunity to have a fun summer experience with other children living with the disease. The campers return with stories and memories that last them their lifetime and with a renewed reassurance to face the health challenges they live with daily. "Tuesday's Angels takes great pleasure in contributing to organizations like CDTC since the future of our community depends on the opportunity children are given today. Hope brings opportunity, and in this way we are investing in their future. We take great pleasure in making dreams come true for these children." said Chuck Nicholls, president, Tuesday's Angels. Tuesday’s Angels is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides assistance to children and adults with HIV/AIDS. One hundred percent of all dollars received go to people living with HIV /AIDS, many of whom are often unable to work and are frequently hospitalized. Tuesday’s Angels consists of over three hundred “angels”, who attend dinner meetings on the first Tuesday of the month.
